First there was the away message. Remember? It was simple. You would sign on America Online, leave a cool away message, your middle school buddies would read it, laugh, and maybe..just maybe you'd get a phone call on your kid's line at home about how funny it was. Then there was AIM, a more efficient away message, quicker, easier, and was of course, free. Afterwards, Facebook took the personal life update to a whole new level based off the fact that every single person you're friends with was immediately made privy to your "status". But now, with the creation of Twitter, self indulgence has hit an all time high, and I will no longer stand for it.
