Ace's Review - Funny People

I don't care what anyone says, Apatows knack for raunchy peen-jokes sprinkled with a sappy sensitive undertone is box office genius. He really knows how to rope both sexes in. Now, I'll admit, I'm usually a loose fan of everything he does, using phrases like "pretty funny" and "it was a good time" to justify my $12.50. This one though, in only a few words is: Life, Death and Dick jokes. It's his third film, and I guess Apatow was shooting for something alittle deeper. Deeper than say, a one-night stand pregnancy or a couple doofus friends in highschool. My gripe with the flick was, homie coulda cut out about 40 minutes of the TWO HOUR AND THRITY EIGHT running time, as the extra fat was peppered with useless montages of what appeared to be a plug for Sandlers all around talents; like singing. Then again, they did serve as solid bathroom break points considering the Tallboy on steroids I I inhaled during the previews. Anyway, it was definitely the best work Sandlers done in almost a decade. If you have half a day to watch a movie, why not.
